This simulator helps learners develop the skills required tocollect cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), measure cerebrospinal fluid pressure, and perform intrathecal injections. Anatomical landmarks such as theiliac crest and spinecan be palpated to identify the correct puncture site before performing the procedure.
Lumbar puncture may be performed in theL3–L4, L4–L5, or L5–S1 spaces. As the needle advances, users will feel a small“give” sensation, andsimulated CSF will flowwhen the needle reaches the proper space. Theremovable spine, spinal canal, and replaceable skin padallow the simulator to be easily maintained for repeated training use.
