The Chester Chest™ with Peripheral Port Access Arm is a lifelike adult torso trainer designed to teach and practice the care and management of multiple central and peripheral vascular access devices. The model can be used upright or in a supine position, providing flexible training scenarios for simulation labs and clinical education.
This comprehensive trainer allows learners to practice accessing and managing implanted ports, tunneled central catheters, PICC lines, and peripheral IV catheters. Realistic anatomical landmarks, tissue pads, and interchangeable inserts create a realistic training experience for palpation, catheter access, and vascular access device care.
The torso includes a pre-positioned tunneled central catheter in the right chest, with a visible subcutaneous tunnel extending up to and over the clavicle. A distinguishable Dacron® cuff enhances realism, while the distal catheter end connects to a blood reservoir bag for simulated procedures.
An implanted vascular access device (IVAD) is located in the left chest beneath a specially formulated tissue flap designed to simulate human tissue. Interchangeable inserts allow instructors to simulate different access challenges including normal placement, tipping, wandering, or deeply placed ports.
The trainer also includes a rotated, extended, detachable right arm with a dual-lumen 5FR PICC line exiting the basilic vein and a pre-positioned 20G IV catheter in the forearm, allowing practice of blood draws, heparinization, and fluid infusion with the arm attached or detached from the torso.
