Birthing Stages Model
This life-size birth model is represented by three stages of the birth process individually mounted on bases. They are: Beginning of the birth process; Crowning of the head and presentation of swelling at birth; Newborn child still connected to the placenta in the uterus by a removable umbilical cord. Anatomically accurate to show the stages of the baby passing through the birth canal with numbered elements to aid in the study process. Each two-part pelvis is later attached to a white base with a removable fetus or newborn baby. This three-stage model is a great resource for midwifery students to learn about the birth process. Plus it would be a great set to display in the office to explain and demonstrate how the human body changes during child birth. Accompanying an interactive 3D anatomical model with augmented reality is a great tool to encourage learning and support. This platform allows students to engage in comparative analysis of anatomical models as they compare and contrast the structure of individual organs. This initiative also provides a platform for continuing education providing opportunities for all students to increase their knowledge of anatomy physiology and pathophysiology.
